An NDA alumni, he was an instructor at the prestigious IMA, Dehradun. He was attached with the Indian Air Force for the last 20 years of his service. He has also commanded an artillery regiment. He is an avid horse rider having participated in nationals twice.

Head Fixed Wing Operations and Interview and Pilot Aptitude Training.                  

He is an ATPL holder having more than ten thousand hours of flying experience. He has flown some of the biggest jet transport aircrafts in the world. He is also a glider pilot. He is a qualified flying instructor .He has also been a  Pune Univeristy topper in Bsc honours.

The "Hero of Siachen", he is a gallantry award winner for his helicopter flying abilities in the toughest of conditions. He has flown in Siachen the worlds highest battle field. He has more than five thousand hours of flying experience on helicopters. He is qualified flying instructor. He is also a very experienced fixed wing and glider pilot. He also holds the record of going solo in just ten glider launches.
